We are looking to start a meeting of Movement Lab Seoul at the Well-Being Studio late February 2010.
We are a Contact Improvisation group initiated in September 2009. We invite experienced and beginners alike. No partner required though you should be fairly comfortable getting in contact with other people. Bring comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Long sleeves are recommended as there is rolling around on the floor.
What is contact improvisation?
Contact Improvisation is a vitalizing dance form in which the point of contact with another dancer provides the starting point for a movement exploration. Originally created as performance piece it was subsequently developed as a social dance and a movement exploration. It is most frequently performed as a duet, but can be danced by more people. There can be music or it can happen in silence. It is about sharing weight, rolling, suspending, falling, passive and active, energy and awareness. Variously described as art-sport, meditation, therapy, or 'hippie martial art', it is basically a form of creative play and physical conversation satisfying our fundamental need to move and connect.
A short documentary about Contact Improvisation:
About our weekly meetings
We hold weekly three-hour meetings. We spend one hour on a guided movement explorations that cover the basis elements of contact improvisation. We then jam for the rest of the time. It is good to do at least one class before joining the jam. It takes on average 2 months to cover the basics. In addition to the fundamentals of contact improvisation we also cover exercises from related body awareness and improvisational approaches that enhance our dancing.
Contact improvisation provides the opportunity for personal practice and for contacting with people with a range of different levels of physicality and experience. It is entirely non-competitive and allows for a wide range of interpretations and approaches depending on individual preference.

One word of caution to those exactly who own a so-called Simple IRA bank account: If you pull away funds from a IRA so you first opened that system during the past 2 years, your Internal revenue service tax penalty is 25% rather than 10%
