"Learn Traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga!"


What is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga? -

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a series of  postures (asana)  performed in harmony with specific breathing (ujjayi),  focal points (drishti) and
energy locks (bandha). The breath is synchronized with movements (vinyasa) that link one posture to the next in sequences that are memorized by the practioner. The combination of this continuous and harmonious breath and movement produces an internal heat releasing toxins in organs and muscle tissue through sweating.  

The vinyasa system  has roots in vedic scriptures and tibetan yoga styles and was developed by Vamana Rishi who wrote an apparent manuscript called the "Yoga Korunta". Later in the early 1900's Rama Mohan Bramachari imparted this knowledge to Sri T.Krisnamacarya who with his student Sri K Pattabhi Jois refined and popularized this method. Although the practice can seem overwhelming and difficult to the beginner, with time the movements and breathing become fluid and deeper and the practice becomes a moving meditation. Modern day Power yoga and  Vinyasa yoga styles are developed, in part, from Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga.

I have practiced a form of Ashtanga Vinyasa daily for 3 years and have studied with several Authorized Ashtanga Teachers - Russell Case, James Butkevich, Master Duncan Wong and Ken Hakumura and at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, with Saraswati and Sharath Rangaswammy and Sri K Pattabhi Jois.  I began hatha yoga and Korean style yoga 5 years ago receiving Korean yoga teaching certification and have been teaching here in Seoul for the past two and a half years. I can teach both in English and Korean. I am also available for hatha and healing yoga style classes.

Yoga class Times/Fees :

                          - Drop-in 15,000KRW
                          - 10 class pass (two month duration) 100000KRW
                          - 1 month  5/week 120000KRW
                          - class durations (2.0hr)
                          - Mornings at 7:00 a.m.
                          - Evenings at 7:00 p.m.
                          - Weekends  2:00 p.m.

- Students will be guided and progress according to their own ability.
- physical adjustments and verbal instructions to correct and improve the performance of each posture, sequence and breathing will be on-going.
- those without any yoga experience are welcome to join
- anyone with  severe limitations to physical movement, high blood pressure, pregnancy, recovering from surgery/ pregnancy or any other condition  should seek consultation first before starting this type of practice.
- modified sequences and asana to accomodate a person's limits of mobility and/or the above mentioned conditions will be given if necessary
- it is usually recommended that women don't practice ashtanga during the first 2-3 days of menstruation
